The world’s most versatile hardtail just got a serious makeover. New hydroformed aluminum tubing eliminates the need for gussets and shaves a pound of weight off the frame without sacrificing any of the legendary toughness the Chameleon is known for. We’ve added ISCG05 mounts and a tapered headtube, and riders can now choose between fixed vertical rear dropouts for geared use or adjustable swinger-style dropouts for singlespeed setups. The top tube grew a little in length, and the head angle has become a degree slacker. All new, more awesome than ever.
Frame Features

What size headset does the Chameleon use?
This frame now uses a "mixed taper". This setup uses a standared 1.5" external lower cup (49mm bore) and an internal 1 1/8" upper cup (44mm bore). Almost all headset manufacturers make this product.
What size fork is recommended for the Chameleon?
It is designed primarily around 120-150mm forks. 120-130 is the sweet spot for all around riding.
What size seatpost do I need?
The chameleon uses a 30.9mm seatpost. Make sure it is always inserted a minimum of 4†(100mm)
What size seat collar do I need for the chameleon?
34.9mm (supplied with frame)
Why does the Chameleon use an eccentric bottom bracket?
The eccentric bottom bracket can rotate to tension the chain, so the bike can be setup as a single speed if you wish. If you are using a typical 27speed drivetrain, just setup the eccentric in the 6 o’clock or 12 o’clock and build it up as you normally would.
What size front derailleur do I need?
A shimano 34.9 top swing/ top pull. Anything but saint should do the job.
What size BB do I need?
The Chameleon uses a 68mm bottom bracket shell, and a 50-51mm chainline. Pretty much any of the newer external bottom bracket cranks will mount up without issue. The Truvativ stylo and shimano Deore XT are our favorites. If you are using an ISIS setup, you need a 68x113mm bottom bracket.
What size tire will fit in the Chameleon?
2.5†is about the max.
What size rotor can I use?
We recommend a 160mm or 185mm rotor, but a 203 will fit in there if you wish.
I want to setup my chameleon as a single speed, but that derailleur hanger looks silly with no derailleur on there. What do I do?
Just get our single speed hanger. Nice and clean, and you still get the bottle opener. Check out our online store to order.
What kind of rear hub do I need for the Chameleon?
Any 135x10mm QR hub will work just fine. No need for bolt-on singlespeed hubs, as the Chameleon has vertical dropouts.
